Inclusion at the High School Level

Below  is a list that illustrates some of the things that Inclusion Staff can do to help facilitate access to the General Curriculum for all students in mainstream classes.  The list is a starting point.  It gives a basic outline of  role and responsibilities. Immediately following the list is a table that shows individual and shared staff roles and responsibilities.

       Inclusion Staff Can:

   Help interpret IEPs    Assist with parent contact
   Work with all students   Assist with designing accommodations
   Work in Computer Labs   Assist with organizational strategies
  Provide online resources  Provide assistive technology*
    Run small classroom groups   Design/Adapt tests and quizzes
  Provide 1:1 assistance with students Collaborate with teachers to implement modified curriculum/ modified grades
   Participate in planning time Provide Technology-based lessons and activities
   Provide resource on Sped regulations Provide online study guides
    Assist in adapting curriculum Act as resource for online materials

* Books-on-tape/CD, short stories on tape/CD, Kurzweil Reader talking books, talking stories on computer, tests/quizzes on computer, calculators, tape recorders/CD players
